Eats: Everyday Green Smoothie

Certain foods have an extra benefit to your eye health, in addition to your overall health. Think dark, leafy greens and colourful fruits and veggies. Here's a quick smoothie recipe to incorporate some of these beneficial ingredients into your diet.

*Oh, and if your kids dislike greens like mine do, try smoothies. They work in my house!*

𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐞:

1 banana

1 cup of dark greens (baby spinach and/or kale)

handful of berries (I use a mix of raspberries and strawberries, sometimes blackberries)

almond milk (or milk of choice)

dash of turmeric (optional)

hemp seeds (optional)

flax seeds (optional)

protein powder (optional - I use VegaOne Chocolate)

The goods ⬇️

Dark leafy greens: antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin

Berries: antioxidants beta carotene, lutein, vits a, c, e and zeaxanthin

Hemp seeds: rich in omega-3 and omega-6

Flax seeds: rich source of omega-3
